Information, Resonance, and the Illusion of Direct Instruction

During World War II, Dennis Gabor was tasked with calculating the maximum communicative capacity of the transatlantic cable to keep Allied logistics coordinated. Because physical cable bandwidth was strictly limited, transmitting raw data was impossible. The key lay in calculating the information value of human language.
Gabor demonstrated that the communicative value of any incoming signal is directly linked to the probability of what immediately preceded it. In human communication, each bit of data carries a probability relative to its immediate history.
This core concept lies at the heart of our software architecture. In dynamical processing, Joint Time-Frequency Analysis (JTFA) is fundamentally about probability. The engine is not holding an arbitrary clinical ideal in mind. It calculates the probability that the next millisecond of electrical activity will remain resilient given the trajectory of where the nervous system has just been.
This is where traditional neurofeedback and Dynamical Neurofeedback diverge completely:
Traditional Operant Conditioning: Relies on an external, linear schedule of reinforcement. Every time a specific amplitude crosses a threshold, the system delivers an electronic reward or tone. While this can manipulate an isolated metric, behavior that is linearly reinforced is notoriously susceptible to rapid extinction the moment that artificial feedback is taken away.
Dynamical Informational Cueing: Does not steer, teach, or prescribe targets. It detects when a trajectory is shifting into sudden instability and provides an immediate micro-interruption—an informational pause.
Like a pilot stabilizing an aircraft before periodic roll perturbations exceed the threshold of resilience, the system provides real-time information about approaching turbulence. The system does not pilot the plane; it simply reflects the horizon so the central nervous system can pull itself back into balance naturally.
