The Individualized NeuroDevelopmental Profile

A self-directed intake survey exploring attention, memory, and executive function through the lens of the Magnificent 7 brain systems. It turns what you already notice about yourself into clear, actionable insight to guide your care.

Who knows you better than you? (Spoiler alert: no one.)

Why your own observations matter

Navigating cognitive shifts can feel overwhelming, but you do not need a medical degree to understand how your brain works. Whether you are an adult juggling focus and mental fatigue, or a parent trying to understand why homework turns into a battle every evening, your daily perspective is our most valuable tool.

By mapping your day-to-day experiences across the Magnificent 7 systems, we help you uncover where your brain is thriving and pinpoint exactly where it simply needs a little extra support. Standard metrics only capture part of the picture. Your lived experience provides the missing context, and pairing the two together is what makes an assessment truly valuable.

Your insights. Your data. Your growth.

Decoding the Magnificent 7

Standardized clinical testing provides data, but it does not always pinpoint the subtle, deeply human experiences that impact daily life. Because the brain functions as an interconnected network, true neurodevelopmental insight requires looking at how a person processes the world in real time.

Cognitive networks

  • Prefrontal cortex. The executive control center, guiding focus, planning and impulse regulation.
  • Temporal lobes. The communication center, processing auditory signals, language and memory.
  • Parietal lobes. The spatial and sensory integrator, helping you orient and move through the physical world.
  • Occipital lobe. The visual engine, transforming raw light and shapes into clear, meaningful images.

Physiological and perceptual networks

  • Basal ganglia. The neurological brake system, regulating idle speed, motor control and anxiety thresholds.
  • Cingulate system. The brain’s executive gear shifter, supporting mental flexibility and smooth transitions between tasks.
  • Deep limbic system. The emotional core, directing mood balance, stress recovery and restorative sleep.

The seven systems

Four cognitive systems and three physiological networks, working together.

The Magnificent 7 is the work of Dr. Lisé DeLong. Copyright © 2013, all rights reserved.

Prefrontal cortexCognitive

Executive function and higher-order thought. The central command center for critical reasoning, impulse control, and the decision-making mechanics that guide what you do next.

  • Decision speed
  • Flexible and focused attention
  • Pragmatics of language
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Reasoning and deduction
  • Syntax of language
  • Timing and rhythm

Temporal lobesCognitive

Language, memory and emotional expression, across dominant and non-dominant processing. Governs the nuances of language, auditory networks, memory retrieval, and the social-emotional communication centers.

  • Auditory association and closure
  • Auditory discrimination
  • Auditory prosody and phonology
  • Auditory reception and segmenting
  • Auditory sequential memory

Parietal lobesCognitive

Sensory integration and spatial awareness. Handles spatial tracking, left-right orientation, working memory, and the integration of incoming sensory data.

  • Divided and diverted attention
  • Left and right orientation
  • Morphology and semantics of language
  • Visual sequential memory
  • Visual-spatial attention and memory
  • Working memory

Occipital lobeCognitive

The visual processing engine. Transforms raw light, shape and contrast into meaningful, actionable cognitive processing.

  • Figure-ground discrimination
  • Visual discrimination
  • Visual-motor integration
  • Visual processing speed
  • Visual tracking

Basal gangliaPhysiological

Fine motor execution and idle speed. Acts as the neurological brake system, controlling fine-motor execution, the body’s idle speed, and baseline anxiety thresholds.

  • Anxiety level control
  • Regulation of the body’s idle speed
  • Integration of feeling and movement
  • Mediation of pleasure

Cingulate systemPhysiological

Cognitive flexibility and adaptability. The brain’s executive gear shifter, governing resilience, adaptability, and the remediation of rigid thought loops and perseveration.

  • Cognitive flexibility
  • Resilience and adaptability
  • Remediation of perseveration

Deep limbic systemPhysiological

The emotional core and circadian rhythm. Regulates survival instincts, mood stability, energy levels, and the circadian sleep-wake cycle.

  • Mood and emotional regulation
  • Energy level modulation
  • Sleep restoration and circadian rhythm

Does any of this sound familiar?

Your lived experience is the missing piece. These are the kinds of question our intake survey asks.

  • Slow reaction time or delayed processing
  • Ideas feeling stuck in a repetitive loop
  • Social responses that land unexpectedly or feel out of sync
  • Strategic planning that falls apart mid-task
  • Difficulty with logic, reasoning or complex problem-solving
  • Trouble navigating the subtle rules of language and conversation
  • Challenges with timing, rhythm or pacing in daily life

Where the Profile fits

The starting point for ages seven through seniors. The NeuroDevelopmental Profile is your starting line. It provides the baseline roadmap that shapes every step of your care forward. For children under six, the equivalent starting point is our Developmental Milestones project.

Personalized care, never a template. Depending on what your profile reveals, your care is tailored across our core training models:

Your profile ensures that every exercise, strategy and session is built specifically for your unique brain.

Questions people ask

Who is the Profile for?

Anyone from age seven through seniors. It can be completed by you directly, or by a primary caregiver on your behalf.

It is our foundational framework looking at seven interconnected brain systems: the prefrontal cortex, temporal lobes, parietal lobes, occipital lobe, basal ganglia, cingulate system and deep limbic system. Rather than assigning a single, generalized score, the Profile maps how each system actively operates in your everyday life.

Standardized clinical testing provides valuable metrics, but paper scores rarely capture the subtle, real-world symptoms that shape your daily routine. Because your brain works as an integrated network, true neurodevelopmental insight comes from looking at how you actually process the world in real time.

You receive your custom Individualized Developmental Profile (IDP). This comprehensive report serves as your personal roadmap, directly informing targeted remediation activities and care strategies built specifically for your brain.
