Autism spectrum and learning differences

We work from systems, not from a place on a spectrum. What we assess is how sensory integration, cognitive flexibility and the social communication networks are actually operating in an ordinary day.

Three systems worth naming

Rather than a spectrum position, we look at the three systems people most often tell us are causing friction.

Parietal lobes

Sensory integration, the joining of raw sensory input to movement and spatial awareness.

Cingulate system

Cognitive flexibility, resilience and adaptability, and the remediation of rigid thought loops and perseveration.

Temporal lobes

Auditory prosody and the social-emotional communication centers.

What people describe

We ask what is causing friction in an ordinary day. The answer decides the plan, and it is different for every person who asks.

  • Sensory input arriving louder or later than it should
  • A thought that gets in and will not shift for hours
  • Social responses that land unexpectedly or feel out of sync
  • A day that goes wrong when its shape changes

How we work with it

Then the work itself

For this presentation that usually means NeuroCognitive Processing, neurofeedback and cognitive remediation in the same session. What gets targeted comes from the assessment and from the person. Sleep, sensory load and flexibility are common; none of them is assumed.

Questions people ask

What people ask first, starting with what we do and do not try to change.

Do you try to make autistic people less autistic?

No. We work on the specific systems a person tells us are causing them friction, such as sensory integration, sleep or flexibility. What we target comes from the assessment and from the person, not from a template.

Under six years, Developmental Milestones. Seven and up, the Individualized NeuroDevelopmental Profile.

Dynamical Neurofeedback® is non-invasive. It reads activity and signals back; it does not stimulate or direct the brain, and it pushes toward no predetermined target.

Start from what is actually causing friction

Sensory load, sleep and flexibility are the things people usually want addressed. The assessment says which of them is which.
