- EEG Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is sometimes referred to as EEG (Electroencephalogram) Biofeedback or
Neurotherapy. It is the process of training a brain to learn to
modify or control their brainwave activity through auditory and visual
feedback.
Neurofeedback is a gentle method of creating a balance within the central nervous system. It is painless and non-invasive in it's approach. The training process is measured by use of a computer system and sensors on the head.
The approach can be compared to “potty-training”. An individual is taking an internal organ and training it to respond by feedback. A child learns how to control that organ by reinforcement, if they ae able to use the potty then the parent claps and gives praise. In Neurofeedback if a person is producing an amplitude (strength of a signal) in a specific frequency level that is within the parameters that the technician has set then the music will go and the picture will move, giving feedback, or praise. If the individual is outside those parameters then the music and the movement stops.
- EMG Biofeedback
EMG Biofeedback stands for electromyography or muscle tension feedback. The muscles emit electrical activity and depending on the amount of tension within the muscles more or less signals will be shown on the computer screen. EMG is mostly used for general relaxation, tension headaches, bruxism (teeth grinding), TMJ, chronic pain, muscles spasms, partial paralysis or other muscular dysfunction due to injury, stroke or congenital disorders.
The use of EMG biofeedback can help re-educate muscle patterns while EEG feedback can help renormalize the central nervous system so the individual isn't hypersensitive to the pain. Many people develop a hypersensitivity to pain at the same time they have created abnormal patterns of muscle stress and tension by favoring a specific stance.
- Peripheral Feedback
The use of peripheral work assists the individual with diverting the blood into the extremities. This process allows the body to lower it's blood pressure, and slow the heart rate. The techniques used to accomplish this are: respiration (breathing), hand warming and GSR (Galvanic Skin Response).
- Cognitive Rehabilitation
Cognitive Connections provides a program to rent a laptop and EEG software. We then train a care taker to work with their child at home. We understand how difficult it is to take your child to a number of different therapy and Doctor appointments. The home training service has proven to be very successful for busy families that have multiple children or a child that requires an extrodinary number of sessions.

- IEP Consultation
Cognitive Connections is able to assist individuals in writing appropriate IEP's for their child. These are used to help teachers develop a program in their classroom that would help the child use the information gained in our clinic. Dr. DeLong will also come to your school on a 3-way phone conference for your child's IEP meeting if desired.

- Interactive Metronome
-
Interactive Metronome (IM) was developed in the early 1990s and is used to help children with learning and developmental disorders as well as adult neuro rehabilitation patients. IM is a neuro-motor assessment & treatment tool used in therapy to improve the neurological processes of motor planning and sequencing.
- Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber
-
Hyperbaric Therapy, also known as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, HBO or HBOT, is a specialized therapy that uses an increase in atmospheric pressure to allow the body to incorporate more oxygen into blood cells.

Indications
In the hyperbaric chamber, as the pressure goes up, more oxygen from the air is ‘pushed’ into the fluids of the body. The healing process occurs when a severely compromised tissue in the body begins to receive oxygen, and blood circulation to the tissue resumes.
The Principle of HBO is simple. Increase the atmospheric pressure and get a directly proportional increase in available oxygen. In other words, a twofold increase in pressure equals twice the available oxygen molecules to breathe. How long the treatments last depends on the doctor's particular protocol for that individual. Every person and every condition is unique. Hyperbaric treatments may require a one-hour or two-hour session. A treatment program may require 3 treatments a week for several weeks or more.
